How to answer questions based on your skills
You must pay close attention as you answer these questions. First, think of some examples for each of the key competencies listed in the job description. You should answer based on how important the question is.
For example, if the company wants someone with great teamwork and leadership skills, you should think of a time when you showed these traits. You can also talk about a school or college presentation you did with a group.
1) Give me an example of how good you are at selling and persuading.
I think it\’s important to highlight the parts of a product or service that save money and solve problems for customers. It works like a charm, and most of the time they decide to buy the products.
For example, if I\’m trying to sell a woollen uniform, I don\’t just talk about how durable and long-lasting the wool is. I also talk about how it looks and feels.
2) Why did you choose your college, and what were the main things that made you choose it?
I was very happy to get into BHU, which was my first choice. It is a very well-known school. Some of my friends and some seniors who were a few years older than me went to that college, and they seemed to like it. I knew that city well and have friends there, so I chose it.
3) In your last job, how did you deal with situations that were stressful?
I think it\’s better to work when you\’re under pressure, as long as the pressure is good. I always like to work with a deadline, and I like to work in an environment that is hard. Most of the time, I deal with situations instead of stress, and that way, the situation doesn\’t become stressful.
For example, when I find a customer who isn\’t happy, I don\’t get upset. Instead, I focus on the task at hand. I think that my ability to communicate well and make the customer happy.
4) Give us an example of a bad situation in which your communication made a difference.
I always try to talk with my coworkers in a kind and respectful way. It always works, and I don\’t think I\’ve ever had a serious disagreement with a friend or coworker. But I remember that this happened four years ago when I was in college. We were stuck in a very bad situation with three other friends. We were all wrongly charged with ragging a new student and given a fine and a 15-day suspension. We were all upset and angry, but I was the one who took the initiative to talk to the principal about it and get rid of the fine and suspension.
5) What is the biggest mistake you\’ve made?
I think my biggest mistake was not being chosen as an officer in the Indian Army because I had trouble seeing at night. I was really set on going, but I couldn\’t.
6) In five years, where do you see yourself?
I hope to be working for a company with more and more responsibility in five years. This is because the company wants to use my skills and let me work closely with my coworkers to solve important problems. I see myself taking on new and interesting challenges in a fun setting, and I hope it will be with you.
7) Do you have any questions for me?
First, I want to thank you very much for giving me this great chance. I just want to ask you to let me know when I can start working for your company if I am chosen, or what I can do better if I am not chosen.
